Happy Presidents Day! Hopefully you have the day off to celebrate the inspiring acts of service our presidents give to America. But even if you’re in the office, get your day started off right with a dose of inspiring and intriguing, service-related posts from the blogosphere – the kind of stories that, we think, would make our country’s founders proud.
- On the Forward’s Sisterhood blog, Sarah Seltzer wonders why Generation Y appears to be more apathetic to the cause of unions than previous generations.
- GOOD magazine published a compelling “guide to volunteering” feature geared towards helping anybody make the biggest and deepest impact with their service.
- Repair the World grantee organization, Yahel, published a sweet article about their Social Change Program, where participants are helping to build community gardens with Israel’s Ethiopian community in Gedera. (The 1000-watt smile on the guy in the accompanying picture alone is worth clicking through to see.)
- Check out photos and video from the Ford Foundation’s recent Wired for Change conference – a gathering of “social innovators, technologists, entrepreneurs and philanthropists” working together to create an “innovative and equitable digital future.”
