Service can be a powerful way to act for racial justice. At Repair the World, we believe that service can build relationships across communities, identify the systems that reinforce racial inequity, and address urgent short-term needs that are the consequences of racism. We serve in partnership by listening to and taking the lead from others.

Hey, we like do gooders just as much as the next guy, what with their cheery pigtails, good intentions and bouquets of flowers. They are trying to “save the world”!

But see, we’re trying to repair the world. That means bringing people together and bridging divides. So we’re actually looking for grittier, scrappier types. You know, the thinkers, the listeners, the learners, the fighters. Not just “givers” helping “receivers.” Repair the World volunteers are both – they know engaged service enriches both them and their world. It strengthens communities by building relationships and it also has the power to make us whole.

Join a national network of much more than “do gooders” – hundreds of young Jewish adults dedicated to service that matters. It’s not just “giving back” – it’s engagement. Give your time and give yourself to the world – you’ll be amazed at how much you get back.
