Partnership Values Coming to Life

Krista Brolley (she/her) is the Community Food Pantry Coordinator at East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) and has been serving under-resourced communities for as long as she can remember, from providing free food with her family’s restaurant to community members to providing care services as a social worker as an adult. Now at EECM, Krista serves to help bridge the gap between community members and access to food and vital services.

A new member of the EECM team in September 2021, Krista was excited to learn about EECM’s partnership with Repair the World Pittsburgh and what that would mean for the advancement of EECM’s mission to change the lives of people facing the impacts of poverty.

The Repair the World corps members who serve here have been phenomenal. They have taken the extra step and care to ensure that the people who walk through our doors feel dignified and welcomed, said Krista.

She recalled one corps member in particular. “Sophie has even taken on a leadership role in our food delivery program where we send many boxes of food to food insecure people in our community. They are truly leaders in the making and have gone the extra mile for community members every time they serve here.”

In her work with EECM, Krista has witnessed the values of both Repair and EECM come to life through the volunteers who have lived out the value of the preciousness of each human, kavod ha’briyot. “I’ve seen firsthand the impact the volunteers and corps members have had on the people we serve here. There is kindness and compassion in everything they do and it makes the experience a positive one for folks who have a lot of tough things going on in their lives,” Krista said. “There is also a drive and motivation to want to take action and make a difference.”
