Do you know a service hero? Someone who goes above and beyond to help others in their community and the world – and someone who you think deserves global recognition for their work? Nominate them to be a CNN Hero.
Nominees must be individuals (not groups or organizations) and can be anyone aged 13 and older, whose accomplishment happened (or continued) after Nov 25, 2010. There’s a special category called Young Wonders for under 25 heroes. The winners of CNN heroes are profiled every week on CNN Networks, and the Top Ten heroes of the year are celebrated at an annual All-Star tribute.
Past heroes have included Yuval Roth who works to build peace and increase access to medical care in Israel and the Palestinian territories with his organization Derech Hachlama (On the Road to Recovery); Gary Oppenheimer, a community gardener who started the website AmpleHarvest.org, which connects gardeners with excess produce to nearby food pantries who need it – check out the video on Gary below – and Deborah Hoffman who works to rescue, rehabilitate and place abused dogs with loving families.
Nominate your hero here – and hurry! The deadline for 2011 nominations is August 31.
