THE APPLICATION PROCESS
How do I apply?
Applications for the 2018-2019 Repair the World Fellowship will be released in mid-October. If you are interested in learning more and being notified when applications go live, please sign up at this link.
What’s the application like?
The application allows us at Repair the World to understand who you are and what is important to you. This is your first chance to tell us about your passions and experiences and to learn more about the Fellowship. We will ask you to answer a video question and write a couple of short personal essays about your background and interests. Select candidates will be invited for an interview, usually via video conference.
Do I need to provide references?
We ask for two letters of recommendation. In the application, you will submit the contact information for your recommenders. We will send them a brief evaluation form with a way to upload a letter of recommendation.
Who should my references be?
Someone who knows you and your leadership work well! For example:
– An academic advisor, professor, or teacher with whom you worked closely. We ask that you only submit one academic reference.
– A former supervisor from a job, internship, or volunteer position
– A co-worker.
Please don’t include friends or family members as references.
What happens after I submit my application?
Once we’ve reviewed an application, a Repair the World staff member will reach out to select candidates to arrange a first round interview. Each interview will last approximately 45 minutes and will be done by Google Hangouts usually.
After the initial interview, select candidates will be invited to a final interview with a Repair the World staff member. These interviews will last approximately one hour and will be done by Google Hangouts usually.
If you are selected to be a Repair the World Fellow, you will be notified through email on or before the notification date outlined above.
Final acceptance is conditional upon completion of a background check (see below).
Will I have to pass a criminal background check?
Yes. Due to the nature of the volunteer work, all Fellows must successfully pass a criminal background check.
