Repair the World is dedicated to making meaningful volunteer service a central part of Jewish life. We enable people to transform their neighborhoods, cities and lives through meaningful service experiences, rooted in Jewish values, history and heritage.

Repair the World’s signature program, Repair the World Communities, engages young adults in social change around education and food justice in neighborhoods in Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Detroit, Miami, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New York City. In each community, Repair staff and fellows use peer-to-peer outreach and recruitment to engage thousands of other young adults in volunteering and learning, support local nonprofits to create authentic and impactful volunteering and education opportunities for those participants, and partner with local Jewish organizations to plan meaningful service-learning opportunities. Through our national programs, Repair inspires and activates thousands of young American Jews to serve their communities through digital campaigns and in-person trainings to individuals and organizations around the country.

Overview

Repair the World is hiring a data-driven and creative full time Marketing and Communication Manager. This role is located at our national office in Manhattan. The Marketing and Communications Manager focuses on big picture strategy and branding, while also managing the execution of marketing tasks. The Marketing and Communications Manager reports directly to the Director of Digital Strategy, and works closely with the Development team, Fellowship team, and Program team to develop high-level national marketing and communications strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & Growth

  • Design and manage communications strategy for the organization.
  • Collaborate across departments to promote a compelling and consistent tone, style, and voice of marketing materials that best asserts Repair the World’s brand and communications objectives.
  • Build and manage Repair’s brand nationally and cohesively across nine Repair Communities, including updating and maintaining brand toolkit and style guide according to best practices and organizational growth.
  • Develop and implement Repair’s editorial calendar including structure and strategy for email blasts and social media announcements

Email Marketing, Social Media and Website Management

  • Develop and implement email marketing strategy and goals for Repair programming, fundraising, and recruitment.
  • Supervise email marketing execution by local city teams, Fellowship team, and fundraising team; as well as building national email blasts.
  • Oversee social media content creation and implementation in collaboration with part time consultant; responsible for maintaining organization-wide social media calendar.
    • Lead the Fellows social media “internal team role” group for advice on social media best practices and strategy.
  • Manage WordPress website in connection with consultants to make sure content is up to date and website is operating smoothly.
  • Act as email marketing lead for Repair (through our software Pardot):
    • Lead large-scale training for all staff on Pardot functionality and abilities.
    • Lead the Fellows newsletter “internal team role” group for advice on Pardot and email strategy.
    • Collaborate with the Digital Strategy team to integrate Pardot with Salesforce to be the most effective and user-friendly CRM. 
    • Research and learn new Pardot tools to further segment lists, automate, and ultimately increase open and click rates for peak engagement.

Data & Consultants

  • Lead data-driven marketing decision making and “design-test-improve” cycles.
    • Develop A/B testing strategy for email marketing, copy, website, and social media. Analyze results and provide recommendations for ongoing improvement.
    • Report regularly on the results of website, email, digital campaigns and social media activities, propose recommendations for ongoing improvement and optimization and implement agreed-upon changes.
  • Manage relationships with marketing consultants when needed.
  • Collaborate with PR consultant to drive direction of publicity for Repair, identifying opportunities for publicity, connecting with staff to make sure they feel comfortable and confident representing Repair in the press.

Core Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in marketing and communications
  • Proficient communication skills, specifically around clear, compelling, and persuasive copywriting for digital
  • Proficiency using digital systems to manage content (CMS) and relationships (CRM), with a preference for experience for Pardot and Salesforce
  • Understanding of WordPress, Facebook (including Ads Manager), Twitter, and Instagram
  • Knowledge of best practice and trends in digital marketing
  • Creative problem-solver able to anticipate and solve problems independently, and follow through on projects to completion

Additional Desired Qualifications 

  • Strong understanding and commitment to working through a social and racial lens
  • Understanding and experience with A/B testing, across email, social media, and website
  • Digital advertising experience, including Google AdWords and SEO
  • Graphic design: experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Basic understanding of HTML for email

COMPENSATION

The starting salary for the position is $58,500, if you have 2-3 years of relevant experience. If you have more than that, let’s talk. APPLICATION PROCESS

The process for the applicant process will include:

  • Submission of Cover Letter and Resume
  • Applicants moved forward will continue on to a first round screening with a member of Repair’s Operations team.
  • Applicants that move forward from a first round interview with have a second round interview with the Data Strategist and Director of Digital Strategy
  • Applicants moved to the final round will be asked to complete a design and digital task before a final interview with the CEO. Final candidates will also be asked to have a conversation with two colleagues within the organization, who they would be working closely with if hired.
