Repair the World mobilizes Jews and their communities to take action to pursue a just world. We believe that service in support of social change is vital to a flourishing Jewish community and an inspired Jewish life. By 2030, Repair will inspire and catalyze one million acts of service towards repairing the world.

Repair is building a national Jewish service movement that mobilizes young adults to serve in their communities, catalyzes service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspires people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns, digital engagement, and service.

Position Overview

Repair the World is seeking a passionate and experienced leader to serve as its Midwest Regional Director. The focus of this role will be to provide leadership coaching and supervision, program oversight, fundraising leadership and organizational guidance to Midwest Repair communities – (currently Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago and Cleveland).

This position is on Repair’s National Team and reports to the Senior Director of Mobilize. They will supervise a team of supervisors who manage local staff and volunteers in the Midwest region. As a leader on the National Program Team, the Midwest Regional Director will collaborate closely with the Fellowship Director, Service Corps Director, and Executive Leadership to meet the needs of our program staff, Fellows, Corps Members, program participants, stakeholders, and local donors. Additionally, the role holds an executive presence regionally and nationally externally, and across our organization internally.  There will be some travel expected to the communities this role oversees.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide regular, high-quality, growth-oriented supervision to local Midwest Repair staff in pursuit of increasing Repair’s community connections and achievements; grow a strong team culture of collaboration, shared learning, high standards, and growth, while embodying the organization’s core values.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Mobilize, local directors, and managers to ensure the development, and oversight of clear metrics including program goals and budget, with an eye towards continual improvement.
  • Serve as a thought partner to staff in the Midwest on organizational development, strategy, and local partnerships.
  • In partnership with the national fundraising team, lead the strategy to ensure there is at least 50% local funding in each Midwest community, holding relationships with donors, collaborating with grant writers and development team on grants, institutional cultivation and stewardship, and developing individual relationships with donors.
  • Serve on the Mobilize Leadership team with Regional Directors, Fellowship and Service Corps Directors
  • In collaboration with the national team and Chief Strategy Officer, develop and implement a vision for expansion in the region.
  • Work closely with Finance, Operations, Digital, and Development teams to identify program needs and improve systems, as the main point of communication and between the Midwest region and national teams. 

Position Requirements and Skills

  • 6+ years of experience with strength in the management of multiple high-level staff simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success in coaching, inspiring, and motivating a team around a common vision; the ability to lead a team through change with clarity and focus.
  • Track record of successful organizational development; an ability to seize opportunities, learning and course-correcting in real-time.
  • Deep interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to connect with executive and non-profit leaders and young adults; skills in relationship building across communities.
  • Sophisticated awareness of poverty, structural racism, power and privilege, ability to facilitate conversations around these issues with diverse groups in ways that empower and open people to learning.
  • Experience with guiding strategy alongside execution.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and stakeholder management.
  • Excitement about connecting Jewish values and learning to service and social justice world; commitment to building pluralistic and social change-oriented Jewish community. Knowledge of and connection with the Jewish communities in the Midwest is a plus.

Compensation

Compensation at Repair the World is determined based on the salary band for the role and adjusted based on the cost of living where the final candidate resides. The candidate must live in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, or Pittsburgh.  Compensation for this role starts at between $90,000 – $105,000. Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation and holidays, employer pays 100% for employee medical/dental/vision coverage and 50% for dependents, retirement matching, and professional development funds. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least a year are eligible for 12 weeks of paid parental leave.

The process for the hired applicant will include the following steps:

  • Applicants who moved forward will have a first-round screening with a member of Repair’s Operations team.
  • Applicants that move forward from a first-round interview will have a second-round interview with the Senior Director of Mobilize and a City Director.
  • The final round interview will be with Repair’s President and CEO and another member of Repair’s Executive Team.
  • Two professional references will be requested before the final round of the interview process.
