Repair the World’s signature program, Repair the World Communities, engages young adults in social change around education and food justice in neighborhoods in Baltimore, Detroit, Miami, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New York City. In each community, Repair staff and fellows use peer-to-peer outreach and recruitment to engage thousands of other young adults in volunteering and learning, they support local nonprofits to create authentic and impactful volunteering and education opportunities for those participants, and they partner with local Jewish organizations to plan meaningful service-learning opportunities. Through our national programs, Repair inspires and activates thousands of young American Jews to serve their communities through digital campaigns and in-person trainings to individuals and organizations around the country.
Repair the World is seeking a Workshop Coordinator in Detroit. The Workshop Coordinator is a detail-oriented self-starter who implements and improves business processes to help the Workshop run smoothly and generate revenue. This position is 20-30 hours per week and reports to the Executive Director of Repair the World Detroit, with support from the Program Operations Associate. The Workshop Coordinator will have significant interaction with the Repair the World Detroit Fellows and with the Operations Manager, based in New York.
- Hospitality & Logistics: Greet visitors to the Workshop, respond to calls and voicemail on the main phone line, manage logistics for events and trainings in the Workshop and workshop rentals and requests, place and coordinate orders ranging from catering to transportation, manage local parking permits and leases
- Technology: Troubleshoot technology issues, including computer, phone, copy machine, projector, and other office equipment, escalating requests to IT support and other vendors as needed
- Financial: Send invoices, reimbursements, and receipts to bookkeeper, track Workshop facilities budget
- Community: Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement, nearby businesses, volunteers, and local residents, serving as a professional representative of Repair the World Communities
- Facilities and Building Management: Coordinate all repairs with maintenance vendors, sublessees, and landlord, monitor inventory and procure supplies, maintain Workshop appearance and organization including small daily tasks and reorganization of space, process, send, and distribute mail, locate and oversee service providers such as cleaning service, maintain security and fire alarm systems, coordinate and schedule outdoor maintenance (snow removal and lawn cutting)
- Partner Relationships: Coordinate facility use and needs of sublessors and other partners as relevant
- Other duties as assigned, including administrative support for the Executive Director

- Familiar with professional office environments
- Outstanding computer skills, including ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and Google apps

- Experience with budgeting and systems management strongly preferred
