Are some cities actually more generous than others? According to a recent article in the Huffington Post, yes, indeed. Blackbaud News recently released its sixth annual ranking of cities where people are most likely to participate in charitable giving.

The report examined 265 cities across America (with populations of more than 100,000) to analyze their per capita online giving in 2013. The more a locale’s citizens gave, the higher it was ranked. So which urban centers gave the most? The top 5 ranked, in order:

1. Seattle, Washington
2. Alexandria, Virginia
3. Atlanta, Georgia
4. Washington, DC
5. Cambridge, Massachusetts

The charitable cities fall all over the map from East to West and North to South, which indicates that the urge to give is a national trend. Don’t see your home on the list? Check out the full story at the Huffington Post to see if your city ranks.
