Senior Director of Community Impact
Repair the World mobilizes Jews and their communities to take action to pursue a just world. We believe that service in support of social change is vital to a flourishing Jewish community and an inspired Jewish life. By 2026, Repair will inspire and catalyze one million acts of service towards repairing the world.
Repair is building a national Jewish service movement that mobilizes young adults to serve in their communities, catalyzes service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspires people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns, digital engagement, and service. Our mission provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful service and learning as a Jewish value, builds capacity for nonprofit partners to meet their missions, and deepens connections across lines of difference.
Repair the World is seeking a dynamic and energetic professional to serve as our Senior Director of Community Impact and oversee our immersive and direct service work in 16 communities. Our programs mobilize volunteers through a full-time Fellowship, part-time service corps, episodic service and learning, and teen and family programming. Alongside their service, volunteers also engage in deep Jewish learning, contextual education, and reflection. We seek a leader with deep experience in service, Jewish community, and managing high-performing teams.
Our 30-person Mobilize staff team running these programs is looking for a positive leader who can promote collaboration and galvanize a team across departments and positions around a shared vision. We are looking for someone who can lead with stability and clarity with an energized and empathetic spirit. This position is an opportunity for a strong leader with an entrepreneurial spirit who can manage complex existing structures alongside a strategy of continual improvement.
This position will be on Repair’s national team and reports to the Chief Program Officer and will ideally be located in one of Repair’s communities (Atlanta, Baltimore, Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Colorado, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Pittsburgh). As a key member of the program leadership team, the Senior Director of Community Impact will provide executive leadership focused on the intersection of Jewish engagement and service learning.
Supervision, Coaching & Leadership
Create a cohesive environment and culture, with an equity and social justice lens, across a 30-person team with excellent communication and information sharing, team building, high quality training and onboarding.
- Lead, coach, supervise and inspire a Mobilize Leadership Team of Regional Directors and the Senior Director of Immersive Service (overseeing Fellowship and Service Corps).
- Provide excellent supervision through annual team and individual goal setting, monthly priorities and weekly check-ins; ensure that direct reports are participating in regular professional development opportunities.
- Oversee a departmental budget over $3M with an eye on multiple community budgets looking towards trends and projections to stay within budget.
- Serve on Repair’s Program Leadership Team, providing cross-functional leadership to Repair’s program strategies.
- Serve as an inspiring ambassador of the organization and more broadly of Jewish service and learning.
Program Strategy & Implementation
Implement a cohesive strategy in alignment with our logic model and adaptive strategy to mobilize tens of thousands of Jews and their communities in service and learning opportunities through a Jewish lens and in pursuit of justice.
- Through advanced project management, responsible for all activities within the Mobilize team including overall direction, strategy and success of the Service Corps, Fellowship, episodic programming, and teen and family programming with the expectation of continual growth and improvement.
- Set a standard of excellence across all episodic service programs, articulating a compelling volunteer engagement model, ensuring consistency, quality, and impact and providing training, and support to program staff and Fellows.
- In collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Program Officer, oversee strategic service program growth, including expanding to additional cities and adding programs.
- Build and sustain regional model, supporting regional directors to lead at the intersection of program, strategy, and fundraising to ensure programs are at least 50% locally funded.
- Collaborate with cross-organizational staff including:
- Senior Director of Jewish Education to implement Jewish education and learning throughout all program areas;
- Senior Director of Philanthropy on regional expansion and development strategies; and
- Senior Director of National Partnerships Strategy and Director of Campaigns on program implementation.
- Oversee that the Mobilize team is tracking and reporting progress in Salesforce using specific metrics and analyzing goals on a quarterly basis with the broader team.
- Collaborate with our data team and outside evaluators to collect and analyze data as well as oversee the measurement and evaluation of our direct service programs in line with our logic model.

- 10+ years of leadership and supervision experience with strength in supervising and coaching individuals and teams towards a common goal, building positive team culture and adapting through change management.
- Advanced project management skills that can both guide strategy and day to day tasks to their completion and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
- Track record of being able to quickly synthesize, categorize and prioritize information, data, multiple agendas, and competing needs with a keen ability to clearly discern the urgent from the routine and needs from desires.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; significant experience in crafting and editing clear, compelling, and consistent communications, while building consensus and driving internal alignment.
- A passion for and experience with direct service and creating and stewarding service partnerships; sophisticated awareness of Jewish life and community.
- An understanding of Repair the World’s organizational values that guide our work with the frame of repairing the world (Tikkun Olam) leading to the pursuit of justice (Tzedek).
- Skilled in overseeing income and expenses, including coaching staff who manage detailed budgets and those with fundraising goals.
- Experience using data to inform decision making and course correcting.
- The ability to thoughtfully navigate issues related to race, identity, and equity, and bring a deep commitment to advancing the values of equity and inclusion.
- Ability to travel within the US as needed and when possible (as the pandemic subsides).

Compensation at Repair the World is determined based on the salary band for the role and adjusted based on cost of living where the final candidate resides. For candidates with 10+ years of experience, compensation for this role starts at between $120,000 – $150,000 depending on your community of residence. Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation and holidays, employer pays 100% for employee medical/dental/vision coverage and 50% for dependents, retirement matching, and professional development funds. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least six months are eligible for 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
