(Temporary) Cleveland Program Associate
Repair the World mobilizes Jews and their communities to take action to pursue a just world. Repair is building a national Jewish service movement that mobilizes young adults to serve in their communities, catalyzes service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspires people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns, digital engagement, and service. Our mission provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful service and learning as a Jewish value, builds capacity for nonprofit partners to meet their missions, and deepens connections across lines of difference.
About Repair the World Cleveland
Cleveland Repair launched in 2020 and offers the Service Corps and episodic volunteering opportunities. The Service Corps mobilizes young adults to meet community needs through part-time, semester-based service. Young adults, ages 18-26, serve directly with local partners providing direct services, and learn about social change, local context for their service, and Jewish wisdom in community through weekly learning sessions with their peers. Through pairing service with Jewish learning and values, Cleveland Repair is providing an entry-point to Jewish life for Jewish young adults who may not be traditionally engaged with the broader Jewish community.
Repair is looking for a dynamic, temporary Program Associate to support our direct service and learning programming in Cleveland. This associate will be focused on three key programmatic areas: volunteer recruitment, external communication, and facilitation of meaningful Jewish service and/or learning programming. The Program Associate will create and implement dynamic and engaging Jewish service-learning programs. They will also focus on recruitment and relationship building both through one-on-one engagement and larger scale community building.
The successful candidate will be a flexible self-starter, a strong facilitator, and a community builder. They excel at building relationships with individuals and can speak passionately about the intersection of service, social justice and Jewish values.
Schedule will vary each week depending on programs and engagement opportunities on evenings and weekends. Program associate must have a flexible schedule.
This is a temporary full time non-exempt position, through July 31, 2023, and will report to the Midwest Regional Director, and will work closely and collaboratively with the Cleveland Program Manager.
- Recruit young adults to participate in local Repair programming
- One-on-one engagement (i.e., coffee meetings)
- Deepen relationships with existing Jewish institutional partners and lay leaders
- Represent Repair in Jewish service and Jewish social justice spaces
- Create regularly scheduled external communication including community newsletters and social media posts
- Work with the Program Manager to enact a robust and strategic calendar of programming, including service opportunities that match the needs of service partners and the target audience. Plan and execute 1-3 volunteering and/or educational programs per month:
- Connect with service partners and local Jewish organizations
- Recruit volunteers and lay leaders
- Prepare and gather supplies
- Facilitate contextual education, learning, and meaningful volunteering
- Manage communications with participants
- Support Program Manager with Service Corps weekly learning for Corps Members around issues of systemic injustice, Jewish values, volunteer mobilization, and management.
- Input timely and accurate data in Salesforce upon completion of programs

- Eager and excited to network, build relationships and actively engage with the local community, with the intent of strengthening Repair’s relationships to the community and to Jewish young adults, excited to serve in our programs
- Experience in facilitation, relationship management, and service learning
- Ability to relate well to young adults and people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Sophisticated awareness of poverty, structural racism, power and privilege and ability to facilitate conversations around these issues with diverse groups in ways that empower and open people to learning
- Strong communication, organization and self-management skills
- Basic proficiency with email and Google docs
- Flexible schedule to facilitate evening and weekend programs

Compensation at Repair the World is based on the salary band for the role and cost of living for the location. The starting salary for this temporary full time, non-exempt role is $50,000 with 1 year of experience. If you have additional experience than that, let’s talk. Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation and holidays; employer pays 100% for employee medical/dental/vision coverage and 50% for dependents, retirement matching, and professional development funds. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least six months are eligible for 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
