Sukkot, with its imperative to dwell outside and make ourselves vulnerable to the elements, pushes us to consider our community members who face homelessness. Join us as we do some learning about housing insecurity in Chicago and Jewish perspectives on this challenge, and to pack kits of needed supplies to be distributed to neighbors who sleep outdoors by our partners at the Night Ministry.

This High Holiday season, join NECHAMA and Asheville GreenWorks to care for the waterways that sustain our community. We'll roll up our sleeves to remove litter and debris from an Asheville-area waterway, turning the Jewish tradition of Tashlich into hands-on action. Reverse Tashlich invites communities to take meaningful, hands-on action during the High Holidays by cleaning up local waterways. Together, we remove plastic, trash, and debris that threaten marine ecosystems and the health of our planet.

Join Repair the World Detroit, Hazon powered by Adamah on Campus, and Beth Israel Ann Arbor for a joyful evening of service, learning, and connection! Together we'll get our hands in the soil, explore the Jewish values connecting us to environmental justice and food justice, and build community over a shared dinner. This is Jewish service and learning in action — rooted in the earth, nourishing the soul. This event is outdoors, so please dress for the weather and wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty — gardening tends to leave its mark! We're joining Dayenu's Chutzpah 2026 campaign, teaming up with the Environmental Voter Project to reach climate-concerned voters ahead of the fall election — including Jewish voters. This virtual shift blends Jewish teaching, political education, and hands-on training so you can call voters and help them get to the polls. No experience needed, just two hours and a phone.

Join the BTI and the Miller Center for an evening of shared food, interreligious ritual, and microservice opportunities from Repair the World. Held under the sukkah at Hebrew College, this is a unique opportunity to build community across faith traditions through story, song, and mutual hospitality. Repair will lead a soup jar packing project benefiting a local food pantry. Guests will assemble jars of dry soup mix to be delivered to families facing food insecurity in the Boston area, a small, tangible act of care that echoes the sukkah's own spirit of hospitality and provision for those in need.

This program will be an auxiliary component to a larger sukkot event. The main event is a sukkot happy hour hosted by Nextgen Detroit and the Downtown Synagogue at the Samantha Woll Center for Jewish Detroit. The service component will involve writing cards to Meals on Wheels recipients with messages of companionship, gratitude, and holiday wishes. We also hope to use a polaroid camera to send a photo of each card writer to the recipient.

Celebrate Sukkot making Sandwiches in the Sukkah with guest Jewish educator Rabbi Daniel Levine! The Sandwich Society brings good Jewish community together on the first Thursday of every month for a kosher-style dinner, good conversation, and hands-on service. We spend the evening making sandwiches, which Sandwiches From the Heart delivers to local shelters and food banks around Orange County.
