Celebrate community, inclusion, and sustainability at our second annual Pumpkin Smash/Mitzvah Day! Bring your leftover pumpkins to smash into our compost, enjoy live music, delicious food, and hands-on service activities with our amazing community partners—all while making a positive impact together. We encourage everyone to bring gently-used clothes, shoes and blankets to donate for our friends in need for the winter months. We are accepting donations of new toys for our friends in need for the upcoming holidays.

Join other metro Detroit young adults (18+) as we team up to help rake in the fun at Jewish Family Service's Fall Fix Up! Repair the World, NEXTGen Detroit, Mezuzah Detroit, Congregation Shaarey Zedek, and Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue will partner up to rake leaves, wash windows, clean out garden beds, to help older adults in our community, served by Jewish Family Service prepare their homes for the winter months ahead. We will start the morning at Oxford Park in Berkley with coffee, bagels and a quick introduction before fanning out to the homes.

This November, Repair the World Detroit is celebrating Friendsgiving all month long! If you’re gathering friends around the table this season, make your meal a moment of service. Host your Friendsgiving as a Jewish Service Ambassador and receive a stipend for your time. We’ll make it easy: we provide Jewish service learning for your table, and you host your dinner and lead a microservice project. It can be as simple as asking each guest to bring a nonperishable food item for a food drive. It’s a joyful way to share gratitude and pursue a just world together. New to the ambassadorship? Learn more and become a Jewish Service Ambassador here: https://werepair.org/get-involved/ambassador/ Already a service ambassador? Submit your program through our pre-program approval form.

Support our neighbors through Metro Community Church’s Open Store, which provides free winter clothing and essentials for men, women, and children. Join us on November 4 at 6 PM to sort donated clothing, with registration through the JCC. The Open Store will take place on November 8 at MacKay Park, with volunteer registration through Metro Community Church.

The Sandwich Society brings good Jewish community together on the first Thursday of every month for a kosher-style dinner, real conversation, and hands-on service. We spend the evening making sandwiches, which Sandwiches From the Heart delivers to shelters and food banks around Orange County. Come hungry, leave having fed someone else. No experience needed.
