Service Learning Kollel
Are you a Jewish camp professional looking to hone your skills in creating and facilitating service-learning?
Repair the World, in partnership with Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC), is launching our third cohort of our Service Learning Kollel this fall, a professional development opportunity that will engage camp leaders in deep learning as they build practical skills to deepen their skills in Jewish service-learning and bring meaningful service experiences to their camp communities.
This cohort will bring together early to mid-career camp professionals (full-time or seasonal staff) for intensive Jewish learning, high-level facilitation practice, and designing and leading service experiences.
The third cohort of our Service Learning Kollel will begin mid-October 2026 and conclude in October 2027.
Applications are open until October 5th.
Ideal Applicants Are:
- Are early to mid-career camp professionals, full-time or seasonal staff
- Lead programming, teen leadership, or year-round engagement as a part of your role
- Have a baseline Jewish knowledge — Hebrew fluency not required
- Are ready to build service into Jewish education and programming
In Hebrew, kollel (KOH-lel), literally means a gathering or group. The formal use originates from our Jewish tradition of communal learning with the intention of supporting and strengthening each other in our pursuit of Jewish knowledge.
The Kollel Experience
Through exploring the tensions between the universal and the particular, participants will grapple with difficult questions about Jewish identity, collective responsibility, and community impact. This year-long cohort will equip participants with the skills and confidence to inclusively engage campers, CITs, and staff in meaningful Jewish service and learning.

FAQ
When does the program run?
Our third cohort begins mid-October 2026 and runs through October 2027. There will be a spring in-person retreat, and pause during the camp summer months. Applications are open until October 5th.
What does it cost to participate?
The program is fully subsidized, including the retreat.
What does the program funding cover?
Every participant gets program funding to bring their Jewish service learning module to camp, so you can put what you build in the Kollel to work at your own camp.
What's the retreat like?
A 3-day mid-cohort retreat where the full cohort gathers in person for Jewish learning and service project work, with time built in to recharge.
How much time does this take?
Monthly virtual sessions starting in October 2026, plus the 3-day retreat in March. Attendance is mandatory for at least 8 of the 10 sessions. Missing more than that will reduce your funding.
Do I need to be a certified Jewish educator or fluent in Hebrew to apply?
No. A baseline comfort with Jewish concepts is enough. Hebrew fluency isn’t required. If you’re excited to think about how Jewish education and service connect at camp, this is for you.
