Rekindle Brooklyn Fellowship

Repair the World mobilizes Jewish volunteers and their neighbors toward purposeful service and learning experiences. Through volunteering, Repair bridges divides, creating meaningful impact for volunteers of different backgrounds and their shared community.

The Rekindle Fellowship is a bridge-building program, situated in numerous US cities, that invites emerging leaders from Black communities and Jewish communities to break down barriers, build authentic relationships, and engage in thoughtful, challenging dialogue. Through shared learning and service programs, The Rekindle Fellowship will foster face-to-face interactions that strengthen understanding, promote collaboration, and inspire meaningful social change.

Fellowship Details

This inaugural cohort in Brooklyn will convene 12-18 participants—half identifying as Black and not Jewish, and half identifying as Jews—reflecting the rich diversity of Crown Heights and other Central Brooklyn neighborhoods. We seek individuals deeply embedded in their communities who, through their lived experiences and connections, can help bridge divides and ignite transformative conversations and partnerships.
The Rekindle Fellowship will span approximately two months (October – December 2025) and will include:
  • Five group learning sessions that draw on notable historical and literary texts by Black authors and Jewish authors
  • Three volunteer experiences serving Crown Heights and the wider Brooklyn community, creating a shared sense of purpose.
Participation is required for all eight sessions.
In addition, Fellows will plan and facilitate two volunteer or learning programs of their own for their communities, applying the relationships and insights they develop through the Fellowship.
Stipends will be provided.
