Chicago Repair and JWI Partnership Program Inspires Civic Engagement
In October 2024, Repair the World Chicago partnered with Jewish Women International (JWI) and She Votes IL to host an inspiring event focused on the election season. Twenty-five young adult women gathered to create their voting plans, learn about initiatives and races on the upcoming ballot, and discuss critical issue areas that affect women.
Alongside their learning, participants wrote postcards to voters in North Carolina, encouraging them to make their voices heard. By the end of the evening, participants left feeling energized and empowered to actively engage in democracy.
Eliza Sherman, Board President of JWI Chicago, shared, “It was an empowering event where I learned about the power we have as voters and how to research candidates, including the 90 judges on the ballot in Chicago. I felt inspired by the other strong Jewish women in the room and our collective responsibility to support our community through civic engagement.”
This program was part of a broader partnership between Repair the World and JWI, engaging women across the country in Jewish service learning tied to the election in Fall 2024.
