Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty! Repair the World Boston and Moishe House Somerville are heading to Groundwork Somerville's community-based urban farm to take care of our local Somerville community. We'll be getting our hands in the soil doing real, meaningful work: Weeding the pollinator garden -- clearing out weeds to make space for new plants to thrive Planting native plants -- getting more plants in the ground on the farm and in the community garden to support local pollinators Plant ID and garden education -- learning about what's growing and why native plants matter for the pollinators that keep our ecosystems going Through the lens of Jewish values, we'll explore what it means to tend the land as an act of service and show up for our Somerville neighbors.

We're partnering with renowned historian Dr. Marvin Dunn for an immersive walking tour through Overtown, exploring the neighborhood's rich legacy as the cultural heart of Black Miami. Then, we head to Dunn's Overtown Farm — a USDA-certified, pesticide-free urban farm rooted in community empowerment, education, and sustainable agriculture — where we'll work side by side installing new plant and flower beds and contributing to the farm's ongoing work connecting people with nature and growing fresh produce for the community. This is a rare opportunity to learn from one of Miami's foremost historians, get your hands in the soil, and leave something lasting behind.

This Tisha B'Av, we're turning mourning into meaning. Join Friends of Brower Park and Repair the World on July 22nd as we mark the Jewish day of communal loss and reflection by doing what Jews have always done — rebuilding. Through a neighborhood park cleanup, we'll connect the ancient themes of destruction and repair to the very real work of caring for our shared spaces and communities. Because tikkun olam isn't just a value — it's something we can do with our hands.

We're joining Hamilton Families for a Summer Fun Day, and we need your help to make it happen. Kids in the Children's Services program will spend the morning boating in Golden Gate Park, a rare chance to just be kids, enjoy summer, and make a memory. Days like this matter, and they only work with enough adults there to lend a hand! We're looking for 15 volunteers to chaperone the field trip. Hamilton Families has a waiver for volunteers interacting with clients to fill out that we will email you in advance. Please wear clothes that can get dirty, closed-toe shoes, and bring snacks and water. Exact meeting location shared after RSVP.
