Repair the World Welcomes Five New Board Members: Jonathan Arogeti, Jill Blair, Allan Bloom, Christina Jefferson, and Juliana Gendelman

We are thrilled to announce the newest additions to Repair the World’s Board of Directors: Jonathan Arogeti, Jill Blair, Allan Bloom, Christina Jefferson, and Juliana Gendelman. These remarkable individuals bring a wealth of expertise and a shared passion for service, Jewish engagement, philanthropy, community building, and social change. Their diverse backgrounds and commitment to Repair’s mission will enhance our efforts to mobilize Jews and their communities to take action in pursuit of a just world.

Jonathan Arogeti, a humanitarian aid worker with CARE, has a rich history of service, including his time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali and Comoros. Jonathan was also the founding chair of the Repair the World Atlanta Advisory Council and has a strong connection to his hometown of Atlanta. Reflecting on his motivation, Jonathan shared, “Repair the World sits at the intersection of our Jewish values and American national volunteer service. I am in this work because Repair the World holds those important items together.”

Jill Blair, a co-founder of the Berkeley-based consulting firm BTW Informing Change, has dedicated her career to bridging the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Her work in advancing democratic practice and civic participation has made significant impacts on national service and philanthropy. Jill is deeply connected to Repair’s founding story and is inspired by her child, Jaz, a rising fourth-year Rabbinical student at Hebrew College in Newton, MA, and also a Repair the World Alumna. Jill’s motivation is clear, “I am inspired to serve on the Repair board out of my deep commitment to service generally and Jewish service in particular. I believe in the power of service to create connections and cultivate compassion.”

Allan Bloom, a partner at Proskauer Rose LLP, is a nationally recognized litigator and advisor who has provided pro bono services to numerous nonprofit organizations, including Repair. We are excited to welcome Allan back to our board, as he has previously served as a board member. Allan expressed his enthusiasm, “I’m looking forward to returning to Repair’s Board to help make a positive impact in the communities we serve.”

Christina Jefferson, the Senior Director of Inclusion and Culture at the San Francisco 49ers, has led groundbreaking diversity and inclusion initiatives in both sports and retail. She also serves as board chair at the Jews of Color Initiative. Christina shared her belief in the power of community, “I believe in the power of community and serving communities to build bridges both within and outside of our community.”

Juliana Gendelman, with her extensive experience in politics and international relations, has significantly contributed to community building and Jewish engagement through her roles with various organizations in Palm Beach, including helping to found the Kohl Jewish Volunteer Center at Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. Juliana’s motivation is deeply personal, “My motivation is always to help others, and to continue to put goodness into the world, and to spread kindness whenever possible. It’s also to participate in and provide a wide variety of service opportunities, and to set a positive example for my daughter and the next generation.”

As we welcome Jonathan, Jill, Allan, Christina, and Juliana, we are excited about the new possibilities and directions their leadership will bring to Repair. Together, we will continue to inspire and empower individuals to join the Jewish service movement. Join us in welcoming these incredible new board members and their contributions and vision for the future of Repair.
