Repair the World Announces Two Senior Leadership Appointments to Advance the Jewish Service Movement
Repair the World
Repair the World, is excited to announce the hiring of Jessica Chait as Chief Operating Officer and Amy Weiss as Senior Director of Field Activation Strategy. Both leaders bring extensive experience in scaling impact, building strategic partnerships, and strengthening the Jewish community’s commitment to service.
Jessica Chait joins Repair the World as Chief Operating Officer as a mission-driven leader with a proven track record of scaling operations and advancing policies that drive impact. Jessica formerly served as Chief Impact Officer for Ronald S. Lauder, advising on high-level philanthropic and strategic initiatives.
Previously, as Managing Director of Food Programs and Policy at the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, Jessica transformed the organization’s food initiatives into the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world, serving over 200,000 clients per month. She spent a decade at UJA-Federation of New York, culminating as Chief of Staff, where she directed strategic planning efforts and secured millions in funding for capital projects and programs supporting vulnerable populations.
Beyond her professional work, Jessica serves as Chair of Manhattan Community Board 4 and sits on the boards of Hebrew Free Loan Society and Human Services Council. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from NYU and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
“Service has played a deep and lasting role in my life,” Chait shared. “I began volunteering at a young age and have had the privilege to serve in post-Katrina Biloxi, Zambia, Poland, and Haiti. Each of these experiences, big and small, has been both a manifestation and a deepening of my Jewish values. To now help Repair the World continue to expand its impact is a true honor.”
Amy Weiss assumes the role of Senior Director of Field Activation Strategy, where she will oversee Repair the World’s national Field Activation strategy and the Jewish Service Alliance. In this role, she will work to strengthen the global Jewish community’s commitment to service and expand opportunities for meaningful volunteer engagement across the country.
“Service has always been a cornerstone of my Jewish and professional identity,” said Weiss. “I am thrilled to be joining Repair the World, where I look forward to partnering with Jewish organizations to weave service more deeply into Jewish life, meeting real needs, building stronger communities, and connecting our values to meaningful action.”
Amy is a recognized leader in service learning and immersive Jewish experiences. She most recently served as Director of Jewish Communal Engagement and Learning at OLAM, where she worked to connect the North American Jewish community to global responsibility and causes. Prior to that, during her nine years at Maryland Hillel, Amy designed and led immersive programs and volunteer initiatives, sending over 1,000 participants on service-learning trips and engaging hundreds of students in ongoing local service.
Amy earned her B.A. from The George Washington University, studied at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, and received a Graduate Certificate in Jewish Communal Service from the Baltimore Hebrew Institute at Towson University. She is a Wexner Field Fellow and serves on the board of Yahel.
These roles will be instrumental as Repair the World expands programming and geographic reach, supported by a recent $13 million investment from seven major foundations.
Both Chait and Weiss will represent Repair the World at Service Matters: Rebuilding and Repairing Together, a summit that leads into the Jewish Federations of North America’s General Assembly, connecting with Jewish communal leaders from around the world.
