Repair the World Los Angeles Launches Wildfires Response Jewish Service Programs

Volunteers gather to provide essential items and support during the MLK Weekend of Service in Los Angeles, in partnership with Repair the World.

Los Angeles, CA -The ongoing wildfires across Los Angeles have devastated communities, disrupting the lives of countless individuals and families, and bringing immense uncertainty. In this critical moment, Repair the World is mobilizing a Jewish volunteer response to support those impacted, in collaboration with trusted partners like the Jewish Federation Los Angeles.

“As the devastation caused by wildfires continues to unfold across our beloved Los Angeles community, now is the time to live our Jewish values and take action to support those in need,” said Michael Auerbach, City Director of Repair the World Los Angeles. “We’re humbled by the response and grateful to launch the Wildfire Response Service Corps and Service Ambassador programs to continue meeting the immediate needs of service partners. Participants will support our communities’ recovery and relief efforts through service grounded in Jewish values, offering a powerful collective response to strengthen each other, hitchazkut, committing to mutual care. Stipends, training, and ongoing support are provided to ensure success.”

As local partners report overwhelming demand for assistance, Repair is mobilizing young Jews and their communities to directly contribute to relief efforts in Los Angeles through hands-on service opportunities and leadership roles, showing up in unwavering support of our neighbors.

Community members sort and distribute clothing to wildfire-affected families as a part of Repair the World’s MLK Weekend of Service, highlighting the power of collective action in times of need.

“During such an enormous crisis, it’s more important than ever for the Jewish community to live the value of service and to show up to support our neighbors. By activating the Jewish community in LA, we can meet pressing local needs, foster resilience, and strengthen connections within our communities,” said Cindy Greenberg, President and CEO of Repair the World.

In addition to the two new programs to support wildfire recovery efforts, the Wildfires Response Service Corps and the Wildfires Response Ambassador Program, Repair the World will continue to share additional ways to serve, Jewish learning resources, wildfire support services, and organizations to support relief, recovery, and resilience to those affected by the wildfires.
