It has taken me just over a month to even begin to find the right words to describe all that ASB meant to me — and quite honestly, I’m not sure any words on any page will have the power, strength, or weight to accomplish that.

Emily Zonder (she/her), Volunteer

Staff

When I was a tax attorney and my work life didn’t align with my values, I found meaning in service. Good service can be powerful - for both the volunteer and the community.
Community is when I found myself in a room with the cashier from my favorite restaurant, a man I met at the art gallery visiting the Repair Workshop, and a volunteer from one of our partner organizations and found out they were all brothers.

Jon Cohen (he/him), Brooklyn Fellow, 2015-16

Matthew Renick (he/him), Philadelphia Fellow, 2013-14

Staff

Sukkot as a Moment of Service
