Sukkot as a Moment of Service

I grew in ways that I didn't anticipate during this year. I am a very different person than I was back in September, and I am still blown away by the many ways in which this program challenged me to think outside the box and explore things in a new manner.

Stephanie Bello (she/her), Philadelphia Fellow, 2013-14

When I was a tax attorney and my work life didn’t align with my values, I found meaning in service. Good service can be powerful - for both the volunteer and the community.
Community is when I found myself in a room with the cashier from my favorite restaurant, a man I met at the art gallery visiting the Repair Workshop, and a volunteer from one of our partner organizations and found out they were all brothers.

Jon Cohen (he/him), Brooklyn Fellow, 2015-16

When this opportunity came up, not only was I excited to volunteer with a food justice organization, and I was intrigued by the opportunity to make my high holiday experience more meaningful.

Matthew Renick (he/him), Philadelphia Fellow, 2013-14
